Operating hours: the food bank provides wholesome foods for the homeless, hungry, elderly, and all those under 150% of the income poverty guidelines who reside within the service area of the avac. more than 480 families are currently registered with our food bank. qualifying individuals and families are eligible to receive food on a monthly basis.the foods available are canned goods, boxed foods, produce, meats, and dairy products. most of the food is purchased from the greater pittsburgh community food bank. we also receive food donations from scouting for food, businesses, churches and other community and church-based organizations.eligible families can also receive christmas and easter food baskets and turkey vouchers. winter coats, hats, and mittens are distributed each year, as well as toys and gifts each christmas.hoursthe food bank is open for regular distribution wednesday1:30pm to 5:30pmthe food bank is open on the 2nd and last thursday of every month for senior box & csfp boxes from 12:00pm to 2:00pmregistrationregistration is the 1st and 3rd thursdays of every month from 9:45am to 1:30pm. you must bring the following: proof of income for all adults in the household social security cards for everyone living in the household proof of residence (such as a recent bill or rent receipt with your current address. a phone bill is not acceptable.)for more information, please call.
